Image is Important

Tips from a book I reviewed in 2005.

Image is Important.

Fads come and go, but classics are forever.

When the author started her business, she had the idea that she would help people improve their effectiveness in their jobs by becoming more professional in their appearance, behaviour, and attitude.

Some people are very comfortable with their image and maintain the same look throughout their entire life. Others frequently experiment with new looks, changing clothing and hairstyles often, and never look the same for long periods of time.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent creating and marketing just the right image for many superstars.

Most people respond that they would care and that it is important for a pilot to look like a pilot.

Why Did You Wear What You Wore Today?

Even if you don't feel well but you fix your hair and dress up, you may find that you actually feel better.

Fads come and go, but classics are forever.

A black pair of slacks can be worn a number of days in a week and paired with different jackets, shirts, or tops, and no one would know you were wearing the same slacks.

The author was called in to help create and present clothing guidelines to four hundred employees of a bank after a customer closed her account and took her business else where. The reason: she didn't like discussing her financial matters with a person who looked as though he was ready to clean his garage.

Dress in a way that shows respect for yourself, your company, and your customers.

The author shares business and casual options for women and men.

Addtional Wardbrobe Tips:

Color influences us and affects our moods and emotions. Each of us responds differently to colors.

Neutral colors (black, navy, gravy, tan, brown) are considered basic colors and enable you to mix and match with other clothing in your wardrobe. Red and blue are staple colors as well.

In general, darker colors project confidence and strength. Lighter colors, which are softer to the eye, enable you to appear to be more approachable.

Jewelry: One popular look is to wear many bracelets on one hand. This is fine as long as they don't get in the way of doing work or make nosie every time you move your arm.

The author has helped thousands of people become their professional best.

Ms Sue Morem, How To Get A Job and Keep It. She is one of the nation's leading career and workplace experts.

Sharing tips from a book I reviewed in 2005. Ms. Morem/company sent me her books in 2005 and I did thank them for sending me her books while I was the Business Coach Host - Writer at another site.
