MLM - The End?

Nowadays MLM seems like a bad word over the internet. Why is that? Maybe it is because the lack of experience, lack of success or maybe, just as it happened with the Dot.com companies, everything gets into the right proportions.

It is a fact that people seems to look for the magic formula, the ultimate quick solutions. Well my friends, face it. There isn’t such a thing. Building an MLM business is like building any other business: it takes time, professionalism and devotion.

I’m about to tell you some bitter truths about MLM. Most people get involved in MLM with all sort of misconceptions of what it really takes to obtain financial freedom. Most people think that MLM doesn’t require much time before they see their first commission check. But it does! And when it does often it wont be a very large one. As a matter of fact, most MLM pros can tell you they had little tiny checks when they first started (well, heck, It took me 5 months to get 70$ by recruiting 7 people). All I’m saying it is very common for such a thing to happen so you have nothing to worry about. If you’re a winner you can fight back till you succeed. However, the important thing is that you must understand that this business (as any other new business) requires time.

Many people join a program for 6 months, don't see riches and join another program for 6 months, don't see riches and join another program for 6 months, finally after 18 months to say, "That Internet marketing stuff just doesn't work"

Successful advertising is a combination of methods, if you’ll use one or two of the tools and disregard the rest, you will fail. Depending on someone else to do your job is not going to work. On the other hand, if you’ll work within a system, combining all the tricks and tools, you will succeed.

Where Do I Begin?

That is the first question that everyone asks. And the wonderful thing is that it is one of the easiest to answer. Marketing on the web is truly a learning process, one that will actually never end.

In order to become successful in building your MLM business you have to consider these steps beforehand.

  • Get your own Web site.
  • This is almost unavoidable – meaning; sending people to the company’s designed pages might not do the trick. You need a site that offers your future down line of technical support. People will join if they will see a successful Web site. A proof of your marketing methods, a screenshot of your down line will convince them to join.

  • A problem: you are not a programmer…
  • Well, let me tell you a little secret: neither am I. There are actually quite a few companies that will host your site for free and supply you with the building tools (without you having to know HTML). Homestead – Homestead.com and Geocities - Geocities.com are just an example.

  • Developing a marketing package
  • Once you have a marketing plan you can offer real help for your new down line. It is important to let them know that they will have a strong support and help once they join to your team. This leads me to the most important point: helping your down line to succeed.

  • MLM is not about recruiting
  • It’s about recruiting the right people and if they aren’t, it is a must to help them. Helping them is helping yourself. There is no point of recruiting 200 people and 5 of them are active.

  • Communication is the key
  • Just an example, I’ve been involved with MLM companies for over a year now. In the beginning I focused only on recruiting. So people signed up, but the checks simply refused to arrive.

  • In order to become successful you have to take action.
  • Don’t sit and wait for someone to do all the work for you.

  • A problem: You need help too.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask your up line. Even if you’ll go to the top. If a person from my group asks me a question that I can’t answer I try to find out from my up line.
