How To Self Promote And Attract Clients Easily

One of the most important practices, no matter what job you’re in, is to self- promote constantly. It is a practice that you need to exercise at all stages of your business. The phrase “self promotion” has a nasty ring to it. But promoting what you do best doesn’t have to be irritating to others, nor does it have to be pushy, egotistical and arrogant.

There’s a big difference in those that push themselves on you, constantly singing their own praises, and those who are simply excited and passionate about what they do. I would love to buy services from someone that is down to earth and at the same time has the confidence to tell me about his or her accomplishments.

Natural self- promotion is the best way to use marketing to its fullest potential. Anyone that knows the secrets of effective promotion can attract ideal clients to his life. Here are a few tips that you can use to attract your ideal clients. Just remember it needs to come naturally to you. You have to be comfortable with what you’re talking about or you’ll come across as pushy. Just relax and let your prospects know why your natural talent can help them.

  1. Invest in yourself
  2. Understand yourself and get rid of any unhealthy activities, relationships or lifestyle habits that will hinder you in showing your absolutely best. By eliminating all these unnecessary drains you actually open the path for better things to come and enhance your life.

  3. Set up an action plan
  4. Now that you feel pretty confident about yourself, you need to look inside and see what you really want to promote. Do you offer anything that is unique that no one else offers? Why should someone choose you instead of someone else? These questions will help you clarify what you offer, why you offer it and who your target audience is.

  5. Choose wisely the occasion and brag in a humble way
  6. In almost any occasion you can start talking about yourself but take care that you remain humble. When in a group, start by listening to the people around you. Ask questions about what they do. Try to learn who they are, what they like and dislike. Once you’ve determined that these people fit with your target audience, begin to offer solutions to their problems. By doing this, you’ve triggered their interest. They’ve seen that you have qualities that they may need. You’ve just given a “free sample” of your services and now they want more!

  7. Use creative approaches to impress
  8. First impressions always count! Keep this in mind because you never know when and from where that potential customer will come. Be prepared. Pay attention to your wardrobe, grooming and health. At one of my first jobs I earned the reputation as the “elegant scarf lady”. At the time I had only 4 suits in my wardrobe. I was a full-time student. What I had done though, was invest in inexpensive accessories. I dressed for the job that I wanted not for the job that I had. Within 4 weeks, I was offered a full-time job with a salary that knocked most of my fellow student’s socks off. By paying attention to my grooming and wardrobe, I was able to impress my “customer”… the department head that I wanted to work for.

  9. Aim for becoming an expert at what you do
  10. Don’t neglect your continuing education. Learn everything you can about your line of work. Then, use your knowledge in your self-promotion campaign. Write articles for local business magazines. Offer to be a guest speaker on a local radio station. By having your target group see you in positions of authority, you’re creating an “expert” image and building trust.

The keys to self-promoting are persistence and action. Never neglect an opportunity to talk about your business.
